Full membership is open to any doctor who had pursued and successfully completed a course of study in Ophthalmology at any institution recognised by the Society and the Ghana Medical and Dental Council as conferring registrable additional qualification.
Associate Membership is open to Residents in ophthalmology who had obtained Primary FWACS (Ophthalmology) or equivalent or any person studying ophthalmology at a training institution either in-country or overseas.
The Society had two Associate Members during the first couple of years. But the number soon increased with increase in number of residents.
Honorary Membership will be conferred on any person who, though not an ophthalmologist, contributes to the progress and development of ophthalmology and visual science, or rehabilitation of the blind in Ghana. No one has to date been conferred an honorary membership.
